I know you were mainly talking about Mac’s but, one main thing about apple refurbished iPhones or iPads is that they come with a new battery and new outer case, so, if it was a returned item, at least you have a new battery. No one else does this, at least not with refurbished apple devices. I know because after Apple cancelled the iPhone 13 mini I decided this was my last chance to get one, and I really wanted an apple refurbished one, as I will use it long term and wanted a new battery, I couldn’t find but one company that said they put new batteries in refurbished products, but, it didn’t look to me like that included apple iPhones, and apple hasn’t had any in stock since the iPhone 15 event, so I found a brand new one and purchased it.
I have purchased Apple refurbished devices in the past and they have been like new and like you said backed by apple warranty and you can add AppleCare if you so desire (I highly recommend aaplecare for any Mac, I had a lemon years ago and they finally replaced it more than 2 years into 3 yr apple care warranty, and because of changes in the lineup I got a bit of an upgrade as well…for free, (they kept the box though).
Don’t have the refurbished deals in Norway unfortunately..😢 but hopefully some day 😊

Sounds good, doesn’t work like that, I have bough some refurbished macs, Mac Pro 2013 had some issues, the warranty worked though, but this only works in the US or any place with Apple Stores, not overseas, that is where I live 😂
I work for apple. You are completely off mark on returns. Vast majority of refurbished stock is not from the factory. They are return in that 14 days. Staying they come from the factory is not correct.

Interesting. The one time I bought refurbished from Apple I had a bad experience. I bought the original Macbook Air in 2009 and 4 months later the video was buggy. It was too late to return.

In Jan 2023 I purchased a 27 inch 5K iMac refurbished. Got the BIG screen I wanted plus a huge computer and a new mouse and keyboard for about one third off. I could not be any more happy. This is also a huge quality control mechanism for Apple providing insight into material and assembly issues. My first but not my last…smiles..

I have an important question : how to know in advance (before purchase) the number of write cycles already performed on the internal ssd in a refurbished Macbook? Because this number of write cycles is directly related to the lifespan of a Macbook.

The discount price is basically the amount you have to pay for apple care plus. So in that regard, getting an essentially brand new apple product and “free” apple care is a plus. Ive always been a stickler about buying things new, but in cases like this, its kind of a no brainer

I was looking for a holiday sale. I gifted my Apple Watch 5 to a friend and got $60 off an 8 at Costco However I was looking at refurbished and they had an 8 for $300 refurbished same as what I had so I logged into my husband’s Veterans account and got it down to $270 plus AppleCare was discounted to $71 ended up saving $65 so win win! Costco had a 90 day return window but I wasn’t gonna return for just a few dollars difference but $65 difference I didn’t have to think twice.
With my veterans 10% discount, most of the new is cheaper than the refurbished. Also places like Best Buy offer prices below refurbished for new products.

Apple is the only place I use for Refurbished. I don’t trust other places and I don’t think other places offer AppleCare with their renewed(Amazon)

Valuable info! Just got a refurb iphone. I think computational photography is one of the most compelling developments in cameras. Was gonna buy iPhone 14 Pro for camera – so maxed out storage – but it was approaching £2,000, which doesn’t compare well to cinema cameras, action cameras or computers. Finally decided it’s not the right time and got 2022 SE refurb for £200!🤣😍 (I had an iPhone 4😜) My next Mac will be refurb. It’s like having an alternative to eBay without the old computers and high prices
Doe refurbished usually is just factory reset and cleaning, Battery has already decreased alot, especially on phones.

Typing this on my Apple refurbished M3 Pro MBP. Can confirm, aside from an extremely tiny scratch on the underside, this is a practically new MacBook. Came with only 7 cycles on the battery, and hasn’t had any hiccups in the past month and a half that I’ve owned it. I enjoyed my $300 savings for sure lol.
